With heavy hearts, we announce the passing

Allegations surfaced that in April 2023, child Hallie Kyed was severely injured. Her father, Doug, a Boston Herald employee, announced on Instagram that his daughter had passed away in January 2021.

Kyed came honest and admitted that following Hallie’s bone marrow transplant, things deteriorated.

“On Sunday morning, Hallie passed away peacefully in her sleep while Jen and I held her hand in bed,” Doug wrote. “Without Hallie, we don’t know what to do. We’re devastated. “We can never again live our lives the same way.”

“I’m choosing to stay positive,” the reporter stated at the time.

“Hallie has faced numerous challenges thus far from AML, but she has overcome them all.” Certainly the toughest test to date, but our courageous little Hallie Bear will undoubtedly pass it.

Doug acknowledged the dire situation when Hallie experienced a relapse following her bone marrow transplant; nonetheless, he expressed optimism for a possible remission, citing Hallie’s bravery, strength, and resilience during her nine-month battle with acute myeloid leukemia and all of its complications. The entire family spent more time at the hospital last week because of this.

Acute myeloid leukemia, according to the American Cancer Society, starts in the bone marrow and spreads swiftly to the blood. After that, it may spread to the brain, spleen, liver, and lymph nodes.

Doug told the Boston Herald that he has been spending nearly half of his nights at Boston’s Children Hospital since his daughter was diagnosed last year.

Jen, Doug’s wife, stated that she felt as though her heart was missing something after losing their kid.

Jen Kyed remarked about how much pain it hurt and how much of a hole it had in it. “I’ll never understand how or why something so horrible could occur.”

May you rest in peace, Hallie.
