Police discover what the teen was carrying after she crashes into a school bus and dies

When Katelyn failed to arrive at her sister’s workplace by 7:30 a.m., the family’s concerns increased because of the sequence of events. Courtney Pettit, the victim’s sister, expressed her increasing concern and questioned Katelyn’s whereabouts at those pivotal moments.

Unsure of what to do, Courtney Pettit took to social media and posted a heartfelt message on Facebook, pleading for any information on her sister who had vanished.

While they searched frantically for their loved one, the family received the horrifying news of the accident on the Panola County roadways.

Stephanie Pettit, Katelyn’s aunt, expressed how depressed the family was and how difficult it was to picture what had transpired before the disaster.

Katelyn was a happy and outgoing person, shown in her GED studies at the WIN Job Center. She was also pleased to be an aunt.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is in charge of the collision investigation, and the community of Panola County is still grieving the loss of a young life.

Katelyn Ray, who had only obtained her driver’s license two months prior to the horrific tragedy, left a close-knit community.
